Founded by Vera Borsos Matovina in 2003, Plant Power is a growing company dedicated to high quality customer service and active involvement in all aspects of the essential oil industry.

It all began as Vera’s wish to help people affected by the war in former Yugoslavia. She felt that the best way to contribute to the rehabilitation of destroyed industries was to introduce their products to the larger North American market. For several reasons, natural plant based products proved to be the best option; primarily because Vera had studied and worked for 13 years in the cooperative production of plant products (seeds, seedlings and bulbs), and secondly, because distillers of essential oils and growers of aromatic plants back home had a very limited market and needed support from outside the country.

From a handful of different aromatic plants and oils, and driven by her customer’s needs, Vera broadened her contacts with distillers from Bulgaria, Hungary, and Greece. Just when she thought that being an expert in aromatic plants from one region will serve the purpose, more opportunities began to emerge resulting in contacts with distillers from other counties.

With every new contact and every new aromatic plant added to her list, Vera discovered new possibilities for growth. With every new oil came an increased body of knowledge about chemical properties and uses of essential oils and plant extracts. Because she believes that education about the products is as important as the products themselves, Plant Power has developed a number of essential oil monographs to be used as reference tools.

Vera’s vision is to develop an internationally renown company that will have a considerable impact on the conservation of indigenous plant species while helping promote sustainable development of the essential oil industry.
